Snippet check

Enter a URL and see what Google can show — and what gets cut off. The check measures pixel width instead of counting characters, compares the title against other pages on the same site, and builds a suggestion from the page content rather than the URL path.

The search term is optional but worth filling in. Without it, the check has to guess what the page wants to be found for — and a measurement across 4,400 query-page pairs showed that guessing from the URL path and H1 misses the mark in more than half of all cases.

What the check looks at
Pixel width instead of character count
Google cuts titles by width, not by letters. „Illinois" and „Wolfsburg" both have nine characters and differ in width by more than half. Counting characters reports false alarms and misses real cases.
The title compared against the rest of the site
The check fetches up to 18 more pages from your sitemap. A prefix that every page shares can eat half the visible width before a single distinguishing word appears — and from one URL alone that is invisible.
A suggestion from the page, not from the URL
Most tools derive the search intent from the URL path and the H1. Measured against 4,400 real query-page pairs, that misses the mark entirely in 53.7 per cent of cases. This check reads the page text instead — and asks you for the term if you know it.
