Rankmio Manual
Everything you need to get the most out of Rankmio — step by step.
1Getting Started
Rankmio combines technical SEO analysis, AI-powered content optimization, and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) in a single workflow: Analyze → Optimize → Verify → Report. Instead of ten tools, you only need one.
Create Account
Create Your First Project
example.com). Rankmio automatically creates the start URL.Free SEO & AI Visibility Check
With the free SEO check you can analyse any URL without registration: 16 SEO checks, weighted score (0-100), and AI visibility estimate. Without login: 1 check/IP/day for free. With login:
2Dashboard
The dashboard is your project cockpit. It is available in two variants — use the toggle button in the top right to switch between them. All data always refers to the active project.
Dashboard V1 (Classic)
The classic Dashboard shows:
- KPI Bar — Visibility, Performance, Avg. Position, Clicks, Traffic Potential
- Rankmio Score — Weighted overall score as a donut chart
- Analysis Overview — Latest analysis with quick badges
- Keyword Top Movers — Winners and losers of the last 14 days
- Quick Wins — Keywords near the top 3 with high potential
- Site Audit — Action items in 3 priority groups (expandable)
- AI Actions — Summary of AI-generated recommendations
Action Dashboard
The action-oriented Action Dashboard focuses on concrete measures:
Weighted overall score as a donut chart with SEO Score, AI Visibility, and Technical Health.
The 5 most important prioritized action items with detail panel.
Quick wins from the Opportunity Engine with traffic potential.
Citation status across all AI providers (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity).
SEO checklist progress, PageSpeed, missing alt texts.
Winners and losers of the last 14 days from GSC data.
Progress trend of all metrics as a chart. With page filter for individual subpages.
Site Audit (Action Items)
The site audit automatically collects issues from all analysis areas and groups them into three priority levels:
| Level | Color | Categories |
|---|---|---|
| High | Red | SEO, SPEED, CWV, KW, CTR, AI Recommendations, GEO |
| Medium | Amber | SEO, SPEED, KW, MAP, TXT, COMP, GEO |
| Long-term | Blue | SEO, KW, MAP, TXT, AI Recommendations, GEO |
Legend: SEO = Search Engine Optimization · SPEED = Page Speed · CWV = Core Web Vitals · KW = Keywords · CTR = Click-Through Rate · MAP = Sitemap · TXT = robots.txt · COMP = Competitors · GEO = AI Visibility · AI Recommendations = AI-generated action items
Each entry has a page context (homepage or subpage) and can be checked off. The page filter allows narrowing todos to a specific page. Export as standard or branded PDF.
3GEO Module (AI Visibility)
The GEO Module (Generative Engine Optimization) analyzes and optimizes your website for AI search engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. It offers 6 analysis stages and 7 additional features. URL selection via the URL Picker.
6 Analysis Stages
Topic Coverage, AI Readiness, orphan pages. Uses existing sitemap crawl data as a foundation.
Internal link graph with Hub/Authority pages, depth distribution, orphan detection, and AI link suggestions.
Composite score (0-100): 40% Topic Coverage, 30% AI Readiness, 20% Structured Data, 10% Content Quality.
Checks via robots.txt which AI bots are blocked (traffic light: GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, etc.). Free.
Freshness score (0-100) based on meta tags, JSON-LD, and Last-Modified header. Free.
Stores up to 5 audits and shows the development of all scores as a chart. Free.
9 Additional Features

Measures how often your brand/product is mentioned in AI-generated answers across all major AI search engines.
Measures your domain's percentage share in AI answers vs. competitors. Enter up to 20 keywords and 3 competitor domains. The tool queries Google AIO, Gemini and Perplexity and shows who is cited how often.
Identifies missing content that AI systems expect in their answers. Shows specific topics, entities and facts that should be added to your page.
AI-generated prioritized action plan for GEO optimization based on audit results. Each measure with estimated impact.
Citability Score
The Citability Score (0-100) evaluates how well a page can be cited as a source by AI systems. It is calculated in the citability workflow based on 14 criteria — including references, factual clarity, structure, and authority.
AI Answer Simulation
The AI Answer Simulation complements the GEO module: It simulates how AI search engines would use your page as a source and evaluates completeness, structure, directness, authority, and freshness. Details under 7. Tools → AI Answer Simulation.
4SEO & Technical Website Analysis
The website analysis is the heart of Rankmio. It checks technical SEO factors, PageSpeed, Core Web Vitals, crawler data, and more — for your homepage and subpages.
Analyze Homepage
URL Picker Modal
The URL Picker is a unified page selection dialog available on many pages (Analysis, Content Optimizer, Answer Simulation, GEO, Competitors). It offers three sources:
All URLs from the latest sitemap crawl of your project. Requires a completed sitemap crawl.
URLs already saved in your project (e.g. from previous analyses or subpage batches).
Top pages from Google Search Console (sorted by clicks). Requires an active GSC connection.
The URL Picker features a free-text search and pagination (20 entries per page). Clicking a URL inserts it into the input field.
Interpreting Results
Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, SEO — mobile + desktop. Including Core Web Vitals (LCP, FID/INP, CLS) with traffic light rating.
H1-H6 heading hierarchy, meta tags, images (alt texts), internal/external links, Schema.org, canonical, HTTP status, redirect chains, robots.txt check.
Calculated from PageSpeed, SEO checks, and keyword data (if GSC is connected).
Extended technical check with DOM analysis. Automatic checklist with concrete improvement suggestions and per-URL todos in the site audit.
Subpage Analysis
Checks up to 5 subpages per batch (max. 20 per project) with the same depth as the main analysis. Select URLs via URL Picker (GSC, Sitemap, Project Pages) or enter them manually. Optional AI audit per page.
Analysis History
Chart.js diagram showing the development of all metrics over time. Shows trends and the impact of your optimizations. CSV export for all history data is free.
5Keyword-Hub
The Keyword Hub is the central keyword cockpit. It combines all keyword functions in 10 tabs with a global page filter (sidebar on the left). Each project can store up to 500 keywords — pagination (50/100/200/500 per page) plus filters and sort make even large lists manageable.
Tab: Research
The Research tab bundles all keyword discovery in three sections:
- ① My Domain — Discovery Quick (50 KW), Bundle (200 KW + clusters + action plan) and Bundle XL (1,000 KW + 7-day list with auto-saved selection + sweet-spot auto-select Pos 4-30, SV ≥ 10). Costs: see Credit prices.
- ② Competitor Analysis — Keyword Gap against any competitor domain.
- ③ Manual Research — Keyword Finder (Google Suggest + DataForSEO + page density) and AI suggestions from page content.
Sidebar Features
- KPI Bar — Clicks, Impressions, Avg. Position, Keyword Count
- Page List with search and pagination (20/page)
- Issue Filter — All / With Issues / OK
- Issue Count Badges and color-coded type dots per page (Rose = Cannibalization, Amber = Low Hanging Fruit, Orange = CTR Gap, Purple = Mover)
- Active Page Filter Banner with reset button
Tab: Overview
Shows a page-specific summary when a page filter is active: KPIs of the selected page, associated keywords, detected issues, and recommendations. Without a page filter, you see the overall project KPIs.
Tab: My Keywords
The central keyword management. Keywords enter your project via 4 sources:
Type a keyword in the input field. Google Suggest autocomplete assists with entry.
Imports the top 20 keywords (by impressions) from Google Search Console with one click. Free.
Select a page in the sidebar — the AI analyzes the page content and suggests matching keywords, questions, and synonyms.
Results from the Keyword Finder (research) can be adopted individually or in bulk.
The keyword table shows per keyword: Source (GSC, AI, Manual, Suggest), Impressions, Position, Trend (delta last 14 days) and — after enrichment — SV (Search Volume), KD (Keyword Difficulty), CPC, and Intent. Filterable by source, trend, and free-text search. All columns sortable.
Keyword Finder (Research)
Performs deep research: Google Suggest, keyword density analysis of the target page, and pro research. Results are saved as research history and can be retrieved at any time (without additional cost). Individual keywords can be adopted directly into the keyword list via "Adopt".
SERP Enrichment (Add SV + KD)
The "Enrich SV + KD" button adds current SERP market data to all saved keywords:
- SV — Search Volume (monthly Google searches)
- KD — Keyword Difficulty (0-100)
- CPC — Cost per Click (Google Ads click price)
- Intent — Search intent (informational, navigational, commercial, transactional)
Cost: Only uncached keywords are queried. The exact preview button shows costs + cache status before enrichment. Cache is valid for 30 days — repeated enrichment of already cached keywords is free. Full price list: see Credit prices.
Tab: Opportunities
The SEO Opportunity Engine automatically calculates the best optimization opportunities from GSC data: Quick Wins (near top 3), CTR issues, traffic forecasts with confidence intervals, and revenue forecast. Free (included in GSC sync).
Trend Detection: Delta of the last 14 days vs. previous 14 days. Rising/Falling badges show improvements and declines.
Tab: Cannibalization
Detects keywords where multiple own pages compete in Google. Shows affected queries with all ranking URLs and impressions distribution. Free.
Tab: Performance
Shows PageSpeed scores (mobile/desktop), Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS), and the project's performance history. Links keyword data with PageSpeed results.
Tab: Pages
Page-to-keyword mapping: Which page ranks for which keywords? Shows all indexed subpages with their assigned keywords, positions, and clicks. Property Filter: Only results for the active project are displayed.
Tab: History
Keyword position history over time as a Chart.js diagram. With the page filter in the sidebar, you can narrow the history to a single page. Shows up to 90 days of history. Free.
Tab: Alerts
Monitors keywords for position changes. Define a threshold and choose above/below. When triggered: Dashboard banner + optional email notification. Free.
Tab: AI Tools
Content guideline: word count, heading structure, LSI keywords, key points. The v2 variant additionally uses GEO data.
Optimized answer formats (paragraph, list, table) incl. Schema.org markup for featured snippets.
Groups keywords semantically into clusters and suggests a page structure.
Compares the top search results for two keywords to measure thematic overlap. Available as standalone or within Keyword Hub.
Full keyword scan of a domain: all ranking keywords, positions, and traffic estimates (DataForSEO).
Finds keywords where competitors rank but your domain doesn't (DataForSEO).
Discovers related topics and subtopics for a seed keyword (DataForSEO).
Groups keywords by SERP similarity. Keywords sharing the same search results can be covered on one page.
Tab: Action Plan
The Action Plan tab aggregates all SEO issues from 4 sources and uses AI to generate concrete measures per page:
Costs are based on the number of pages (in batches of 15, rounded up). Exact prices: see Credit prices.
Use the page filter (sidebar or dropdown) to narrow results to a single page. Pages without AI measures show a prompt to update. Larger projects (>10 pages) are processed in batches of 10.
6Competitors
The Competitor Analysis offers a central register of pinned competitors, loadable data packages per competitor, four analysis modes, and an automatic battle schedule. Property Filter: All results refer to the active project.
Competitor Register (pinned competitors)
The foundation for all other competitor functions. Under Competitors → Register, manage your 1–10 most important competitor domains per project. Pinned competitors are automatically used in other modules (Backlinks, Position Tracker, GEO, Citation Tracker).
Competitor Data Package
For each pinned competitor, you can load a complete data package with one click — rankings + top pages + backlinks summary + historical overview. depending on components.
- Rankings — up to 1,000 ranking keywords of the competitor (position, search volume, KD, intent, ETV) — the data basis for gap analyses and keyword takeover.
- Top Pages — which competitor URLs draw the most traffic, sortable.
- Backlinks Summary — referring domains, anchor distribution, toxic indicators.
- Historical Overview — how visibility has developed over the past months.
Quick Compare
Compares up to 5 competitor domains with your site.
Deep Analysis
Crawls 50 or 100 subpages of a competitor and delivers a detailed comparison analysis with AI insights.
- Content analysis: heading structure, text length, internal linking
- Technology stack: CMS, frameworks, CDN, analytics
- AI insights: Prioritized action items based on the comparison
- Export as standard or branded PDF

Color-coded comparison matrix shows at a glance who leads in each dimension.
Battle Schedule
Automate recurring battles with the Battle Scheduler:
Schedules can be paused or deleted at any time. Credits are deducted with each execution.
Sitemap Monitor (moved)
/competitor-sitemap-monitor redirect via 301.Competitors in the Chat Agent
Since June 2026 the Chat Agent uses your pinned competitors automatically when it answers keyword questions:
- Brand filter — keyword recommendations never include the competitors' own brand terms. You only see keywords you can realistically rank for.
- Topic filter — competitor keywords that are topically off-target for your site (compared to your last 90 days of Google Search Console data) are dropped before the agent sees them.
- Transparent — when you ask the agent why a keyword was excluded, it can show you exactly which filter removed it (brand match, off-topic, etc.).
7Tools
Sitemap Hub
The Sitemap Hub crawls your website via batched BFS spider and evaluates each URL using AI.
robots.txt Tool
The robots.txt Tool offers seven functions for managing and analyzing your robots.txt:

14SEO/GEO Chat Agent
The Rankmio Chat Agent is the most powerful AI advisor available in any SEO or GEO tool today. Unlike generic AI chatbots, it has direct access to all your project-specific data and can autonomously run analyses to deliver precise, actionable recommendations.
Key Capabilities
- Project Context — The agent knows your SEO scores, keywords, rankings, GEO scores, and competitor data. Every response is tailored to your actual situation.
- RAG Technology — Searches your project knowledge base with vector embeddings for precise, factual answers grounded in your real data.
- Tool-Calling — Can autonomously run analyses, fetch SERP data, and generate recommendations based on real-time data from your project.
- Session Memory — Conversation history is saved per project for continuous context. Pick up where you left off at any time.
- Multi-Model — Uses the most advanced AI language models available to ensure the highest quality advice.
- Voice Input — Optionally dictate your question via OpenAI Whisper instead of typing.
Diagnostic Mode
Questions like „Why doesn't my page rank?", „Why no clicks?" or „Why is my visibility low?" automatically trigger the diagnostic mode. Instead of dumping data, the agent returns exactly 3 prioritized weak points drawn from 7 analytical axes:
- Search intent match
- Topic focus / topic authority
- Page structure (H1/H2 outline, readability)
- Citability / E-E-A-T signals
- Technical SEO (Core Web Vitals, mobile, indexing)
- Internal linking
- Competition (who ranks ahead and why)
The phrasing follows an „effect first" rule — e.g. „AI guesses your brand wrong" instead of „missing sameAs in Schema". After the 3 main points, the agent shows a hint about further weak areas. Follow-up questions like „what else?", „more on Schema?" stay within the diagnostic context — you can drill down deeper without losing the thread.

The Chat Agent can call the following 28 features during a conversation to retrieve live data and perform actions:

Example Prompts
15Content Studio
Brand Knowledge Base (Library)
Upload brand documents (PDF, DOCX, TXT) or import content from URLs to build your brand knowledge base. All documents are automatically chunked and embedded using pgvector for AI-powered retrieval. The library supports up to 50 documents per project.
Active-for-AI multi-select: Each document has an Active checkbox in the leftmost column of the table. Only documents marked active feed into persona generation, brand keyword extraction, and the content-generation brand context. Inactive documents stay stored and can be re-activated any time. The header shows a counter „X of Y active for AI" plus „Activate all" / „Deactivate all" buttons that flip the entire set in one click. While a document is still being processed (status „pending" or „processing"), the checkbox is disabled — activation is only possible after the embedding completes.
Project Context
In the Library, you can set a Project Context: your own page URL and up to 2 competitor URLs. A URL picker lets you select from all URLs in your project. The context is synced bidirectionally with the Editor and used for keyword extraction and comparison. The context is saved per project and persists across sessions.
Content Briefs
Create AI-generated content briefs based on a topic, target keywords, and optionally a persona. The AI enriches the brief with your brand context from the active library documents. Each brief includes: title suggestions, H2 outline with key points, core messages, E-E-A-T recommendations, tone of voice, and target length.
Templates (Structural Blueprints)
Build reusable structural templates for your articles in a drag-drop editor. 17 element types — TL;DR (Short Answer), Key Statement, Intro, H2 Section, Definition Box, Step-by-Step, Comparison Table, Pro/Con, Recommendation by Profile, Statistic, Interactive Quiz, Pull-Quote, Key Takeaways, CTA, FAQ, Author & Date, Sources — combine via drag-drop into a template. 15 pre-installed default templates (Standard Article, Tool Comparison, Buyer's Guide, Listicle, How-To, Case Study, Tutorial with Quiz, Pillar Page, Study, Product Page, Landing Page, FAQ Page, Thought-Leadership Essay, Definition, News) are clone-able as starting points. In the brief, you pick the template from the gallery — the AI fills every element with topic-specific content in the right format. Templates are the reusable blueprint between brief and content: configured once, used for every sibling article in the same branch. See the dedicated „Templates" section further below for the full deep-dive.
Buyer Personas
Generate AI-powered buyer personas from your active brand documents or create your own. The AI identifies 2-4 personas with description, pain points, goals, preferred channels, and content preferences. You can also create personas manually or edit AI-generated ones.
Behaviour when no documents are active: If your library has documents but none is marked active, a confirm dialog appears before generation: „Create generic personas based on domain and industry topics?" — you consciously decide whether to proceed without brand context.
Persona names never appear in the article: The persona name (e.g. „Marketing Max") is an internal AI label only and is NEVER mentioned in the generated article text. The content addresses the audience generically by role („as a Marketing Manager", „many decision-makers") — so the article reads naturally instead of introducing an unknown character.
Content Generation & Citability
Generate full SEO-optimized articles from your briefs. Each draft receives an automatic Citability Score (0-100) measuring AI citability across 14 criteria. Schema.org JSON-LD (Article + FAQ) is auto-generated and shown as a copyable code block. Export your content as a complete HTML file with meta tags, Schema.org markup, and proper SEO structure.
Wikidata sameAs Enrichment
All Schema.org markup generated by the Content Studio (and the standalone Schema Generator) is automatically enriched with sameAs references to Wikidata and Wikipedia. This is one of the strongest signals available to AI search engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, or Google AI Overviews to disambiguate entities — e.g. distinguishing whether „Jaguar" refers to the car, the animal, or the sports team.
The matching happens context-based: Rankmio compares your page content with Wikidata descriptions and selects the most fitting entity. Wikidata lookups are cached for 30 days for performance, and the schema is generated even if the Wikidata API is briefly unavailable (just without sameAs links in that case).
WYSIWYG Editor
The full WYSIWYG editor lets you edit generated drafts or write new content from scratch. Features include auto-save (every 60 seconds), URL import for existing pages, and a live Citability check that scores your content in real-time. The editor opens at 900px height (+50% vs. before) and can be resized further via the drag handle at the bottom.
No phantom drafts: Opening the editor briefly and leaving without entering content does NOT create an empty „Untitled" entry in the drafts list. The draft is created only when you actually do something — type a title (more than 2 characters), write text (more than 5 characters), insert a media element, or explicitly click „Save".
Media Integration (Images & Videos)
Every generated draft automatically receives default image and video placeholders inserted at H2 positions (configurable per brief, default: 1 image + 1 video). You can swap them with one click via the Media tab in the editor sidebar, which offers three sub-tabs:
- AI image generation — Generate custom images via OpenAI gpt-image-1 or Google Imagen 4 Fast. Free-text prompt, three sizes (1024×1024, 1024×1536, 1536×1024), and optional alt text. Files are stored on Rankmio and served via an authenticated endpoint.
- Pexels stock photos — Search the Pexels library (free, commercially usable, no attribution required). Toggle «Show photos with people» respects GDPR — by default people-tagged images are hidden, activating the toggle requires explicit consent. Inserted images use the direct Pexels CDN URL, so they work in exported HTML on any host.
- YouTube videos — Search the YouTube Data API v3. By default only Creative-Commons-licensed videos are shown; with the „All licences" toggle you can also embed regular videos (with a responsibility note for your use case). Inserted videos use the privacy-friendly youtube-nocookie.com embed.
Swap an existing image or video in place: Click the existing image or video in the editor (it gets an orange outline as a visual marker), then switch to the Media tab and click a new search card or generate a new AI image → the marked element is replaced instead of appended at the end. Works with all three sources (AI image, Pexels photo, YouTube embed) and with the auto-inserted default placeholders.
When you save the draft, all inserted media is stored as part of the HTML and exported with the article. Cursor-position inserts and automatic nested-figure flattening keep the markup clean.
Keyword Panel
The sidebar Keyword Panel extracts keywords from three sources: your own page, competitors, and brand documents. Keywords can be selectively enriched with real SERP data — search volume, keyword difficulty, position, and search intent. The panel features sortable column headers (Keyword, Volume, Position, Intent, Occurrences), live occurrence counting in the editor text, keyword stuffing warnings, AI keyword extraction, and the ability to delete or insert keywords with one click. Costs: see Credit prices.
Editor Sidebar — 6 Tabs
The editor sidebar is structured into 6 tabs with notification badges showing pending action items:
- Keywords — 4 source tabs (Own/Competitor/Brand/Project) × 3 sub-tabs (Rankings/Content/Keyword gaps). Live occurrence counter, GSC enrichment, click-insert. The „Content" sub-tab always extracts keywords from the current editor text (prevents stale cache when switching between drafts).
- Sources — Top SERP URLs + People-Also-Ask questions (click-insert as H3) + SERP features. URL-Import card is collapsed by default (rare use case).
- Topic gaps — Research-based content gaps with status traffic-light (red/yellow/green), Insert/AI-Generate/Save-Keyword per gap, progress bar.
- Compare — Citability-Score bar comparison + Word count comparison (your article vs. competitor average as bars) + Per-criterion comparison: list of citability checks with your own Pass/Fail (green/red dot) + competitor quota (X/Y pass) — red number when majority pass and you don't.
- Media — AI image (OpenAI gpt-image-1 / Google Imagen 4 Fast), Pexels stock search, YouTube search (CC-license filter), click-to-replace existing media.
- Brief — Read-only view of the original brief: topic, keywords, persona, template, goal/tone/length, title suggestions, H2 outline with key points, core messages, E-E-A-T recommendations, guardrails. Visible only when the draft has a brief.
Notification badges (small colored numbers in tab corners): Keywords (amber) = keyword-stuffing warnings (density > 3 %); Topic gaps (red) = uncovered gaps; Compare (amber) = competitors with higher citability score; Media (pink) = default placeholders not yet replaced.
Content Generation Progress Bar
When you click „Generate content", a smooth-asymptotic progress bar runs from 0 to 95 % over ~60 seconds with phase labels (Preparing brief → Loading brand context → AI writing article → Schema + Citability check → Final touches). On actual completion signal: jumps to 100 % + „Done — opening editor…" then redirects to the editor.
Citability Hardening & Anti-Hallucination
Multiple server-side guards prevent the AI from delivering hallucinated content during generation:
- URL Allowlist — Before generation: real URLs are collected from draft research_data + active library docs + brand context. The allowlist is injected into the AI prompt for the references element („only these URLs allowed"). Post-processing strips deep-path hallucinations (e.g. invented „ahrefs.com/blog/..." URLs) to plain text. Homepage URLs (path „/" or empty) of well-known organizations are permitted as fallback if no allowlist data is available.
- Shop-Link Auto-Wrap — Active library docs are scanned for CSV-style product data (ArticleNr, Name, Category, URL). Product mentions in the body text are automatically wrapped with the corresponding shop URL — also in comparison tables, FAQ answers, and bullet lists. Fuzzy variants: if the AI shortens „Nike Vaporfly 4" to „Nike Vaporfly" or even just „Vaporfly", the matcher still finds it. Existing wrong anchors (e.g. „nike.com" wrapping „Nike Streakfly 2") are corrected to the library shop URL.
- Statistik-Box Anti-Hallucination — The statistik_box render instruction explicitly prohibits invented numbers: „Only fill if number + source comes from brand context, web research, or library docs. No invented industry statistics."
- brief_result Staleness Detection — On each content-generate, the system compares brief.updated_at against max(active library_doc.updated_at) + persona.updated_at. If library or persona is newer than the brief, brief_result + brand_context + research_data are invalidated → lazy regen builds a fresh brief with current data. Avoids stale outline when library was updated after the original brief was generated.
- GEO Quality Prompt — Every generation prompt now includes guidance for citability criteria #9 (factual_claims) and #11 (unique_entities): „Concrete numbers in body text where defensible without invention (counts, time ranges, percent ranges) — branch-typical magnitudes from general knowledge are OK, but no specific statistic citations without sources. At least 5 named entities — concrete tool/platform/framework names instead of generic terms (Google Search Console instead of „the tool", WordPress instead of „the CMS")."
Own API Key
You can add your own OpenAI API key in your profile settings. The key is validated against the OpenAI API when you save it and stored encrypted (AES-256). With your own key active, content generation and the citability full check are free — no credits are deducted. Activate the "Own API key" toggle in the Content Studio drafts page or editor.
Templates (Structural Blueprints)
Templates define the structure of your articles — which elements appear in which order. They are the reusable blueprint between brief and content. Instead of writing each article from scratch with a different shape, you configure ONE template per article type and reuse it for every sibling article in the same branch.
16 structural elements available, organized in categories:
- Hook & Start: TL;DR (Short Answer 2-3 lines), Key Statement (1 sentence, AI-quotable), Intro (Hook + Problem)
- Explain: H2 Section (repeatable), Definition Box (Schema.org DefinedTerm), Step-by-Step (Schema.org HowTo)
- Compare: Comparison Table (Schema.org Table, configurable columns/rows), Pro/Con List, Recommendation by Profile
- Data: Statistic Box (large number + source, repeatable)
- Interactive: Quiz (real interactive quiz with radio buttons + score evaluation, self-contained JS)
- Trust: Pull-Quote (Schema.org Quotation, repeatable)
- Closing: Key Takeaways (3-5 bullets)
- Action: CTA Box (repeatable)
- Q&A: FAQ Block (configurable min/max questions, Schema.org FAQPage)
- References: Sources List
15 pre-installed default templates, tagged for content goals (traffic / leads / conversion / authority / education / support):
- Standard Article, How-To / Guide, Tool Comparison, Buyer's Guide, Listicle ("X best …")
- Case Study, Definition / Glossary Entry, News / Update, Pillar Page, Tutorial with Quiz
- Study / Data Report, Product Page, Landing Page, FAQ Page, Thought-Leadership Essay
Workflow: open Content Studio → Templates tab. Standard templates are read-only — clone one to get an editable copy in "My Templates". In the editor: drag-drop reorder, toggle elements on/off, set hints per element (topic-specific instructions for the AI), configure FAQ min/max and table dimensions, set default target length + tonality + recommended goals. In the brief form, the template gallery shows recommended templates first based on your selected content goal.
Why this matters for scaling: for Semi-Programmatic SEO (a series of "Tool A vs Tool B", "X best Y" or similar articles), you configure ONE template once. Every sibling article in the branch uses the same template — structurally identical, content-wise fresh. The AI receives the template as a mandatory structural blueprint and fills topic-specific content into each element.
Schema.org per element: when FAQ is in the template, FAQPage schema is auto-generated; HowTo for step-by-step; Quotation for pull-quotes; Table for comparison tables; DefinedTerm for definition boxes. Plus the Wikidata sameAs enrichment for the main entity.
Cost: Templates feature is free. Cloning + editing are free. The brief generation that uses the template costs the normal Content Brief credits.
WordPress publishing (Direct Push)
From every draft in the editor you can push directly to your WordPress site — no copy-paste, no manual HTML upload. Set up the connection once under Profile → Publish: per site you save a label, the WordPress URL (HTTPS mandatory), the WordPress username and an Application Password. The Application Password is generated in your WordPress profile under „Application Passwords" (WP 5.6+) and stored AES-256 encrypted in our database. You can revoke it any time in WordPress without touching your main login.
Multi-site: One account can manage multiple WordPress connections — useful for agencies handling several customer sites. Each connection is independent (own credentials, own test-status).
Publish modal: Click „Publish article" in the editor top bar. After picking the connection the modal asynchronously loads the WP site's categories, tags, post types and detects whether Yoast SEO is active. You then choose:
- Post type — Post or Page (custom post types are listed too if registered for REST).
- Categories — Pill-style multi-select with QuickAdd: type a name + Enter → category is created in WordPress and selected.
- Tags — Same pill-style multi-select with QuickAdd.
- Featured image — First image in the article is auto-extracted and uploaded to WordPress media library; an optional URL override lets you supply another image.
- Slug + Excerpt — Both optional, auto-generation falls back to the title / first 240 chars of content.
- Yoast SEO — If Yoast is detected on the WP site, an extra section appears with SEO title (60 char counter) and meta description (155 char counter) — both stored in the Yoast block.
- WP status — Save as draft (default, recommended) or publish immediately.
- When — Now or scheduled for a specific date and time.
Scheduling: Scheduled publications wait in our queue (publish_jobs) until a cron job picks them up (every 2 minutes). On a transient connection error the job retries with exponential backoff (1, 5, 30, 120 min) up to 4 times. You see scheduled and past publications under Profile → Publish with status, scheduled time, and the WP edit URL on success.
Security: HTTPS is mandatory for connections — Application Password would travel in plain text otherwise. Local/private IP ranges (localhost, 10.*, 192.168.*) are rejected. All publish actions are logged to the publish_jobs audit table per user.
No credits: WordPress publishing is free — included for Basis, Pro and Admin plans.
Credits & Limits
First document upload and first URL import per project are free. Pexels stock photo search, YouTube video embeds and WordPress publishing are free. With your own OpenAI API key: content generation and citability full check are free. Maximum 20 active drafts per project (archived drafts do not count). All other Content Studio actions cost credits — exact prices: see Credit prices.
17New since July 2026
First-party Copilot citations from Bing Webmaster Tools become importable — the first search-platform-native AI-citation source to hit a Rankmio dashboard. Plus a KPI card in the GEO Hub that links straight to the new dashboard.
Bing AI Performance — CSV Import
Bing Webmaster Tools has been shipping the AI Performance report since February 2026 (public preview). It's the first search-platform report that shows first-party AI-citation data: how often Microsoft Copilot and Bing AI summaries cite one of your URLs, which grounding queries Copilot generates internally to find them, and — since the June 2026 update — search intents, topic clusters and a compare feature. Microsoft has not yet published an API for this data, so Rankmio accepts the CSV export from BWT.
Step-by-step: export + import
- Open bing.com/webmasters, select your property.
- Left sidebar: click „AI Performance".
- Choose the period (30 or 90 days works well).
- Top right: Export button → CSV.
- In Rankmio, open
/geo/bing-ai/uploadand drop the CSV.
Two supported formats
Time series with columns Date, Citations, Cited Pages. Feeds the 90-day trend chart on the dashboard. Best for tracking momentum.
Detail rows with URL, Query, Citations, Intent, Topic. Feeds the Top URLs / Top Queries / Intents / Topics blocks. Best for content optimisation.
Dashboard elements
- Trend chart (90 days) — Citations + Cited Pages per day, aggregated across all uploads.
- 4 KPI cards — Total citations, cited URLs, unique grounding queries, time window.
- Top URLs (20) — which of your pages get cited how often, with query count.
- Top Grounding Queries (20) — internal Copilot queries that landed on your pages.
- Intents + Topics — bar-chart split by search intent and topic cluster.
- Upload history — every batch with delete option (cascade).
Parser behaviour
- Auto-detects delimiter: comma, semicolon or tab.
- Header language: accepts English (URL, Query, Citations) and German (Seite, Abfrage, Zitierungen). Umlauts (ä/ö/ü/ß) are normalised.
- Unknown header → friendly info banner, upload logged as 0 rows, no error.
- Empty CSV → friendly info banner: „Bing hasn't reported AI citations yet". No error.
- Limits: 10 MB, 50 000 rows per upload.
KPI card in the GEO Hub
The GEO Hub (/geo/hub) shows a Bing Copilot KPI card under the AI Visibility widget with total citations, 7-day delta (green/red) and cited-URL count. Click opens the full dashboard. If no data is uploaded yet, the card renders in an empty state that links to the CSV upload.
16New since June 2026
Major SEO/GEO release with six new modules (Competitor Register, Rankings tab, Competitor Data Package, Backlinks Hub, Bulk-First Position Tracker, AI Visibility Monitor) plus voice dictation in the editor, a 4-bucket sidebar redesign and a public changelog.
Project Competitor Register
A central competitor list per project — auto-populated from your Easy and Deep SEO runs. Pin your top 1–3 rivals — Briefs, the chat agent and competitor data packages all use them automatically.
- Auto-Discovery after every Easy/Deep SEO run
- Pin up to 3 domains — only pinned competitors appear in brief modal and chat agent
- Blacklist for manually excluded domains (never suggested again)
- Register tab in the competitor hub shows snapshot status + keyword count per competitor
Rankings Tab in SEO Analysis
Fresh SERP data combined with your GSC data in one table — with multi-sort on position, search volume, clicks, impressions, CTR and diff. Integrated into the existing SEO analysis, no new hub needed.
Competitor Data Package
One click pulls up to 1,000 ranking keywords per competitor domain — with position, search volume and URL. Bulk-First architecture saves ~80% provider cost vs single-keyword lookups.
Multi-sort, checkbox selection, direct transfer into your project keywords. Your own position and GSC data appear next to the competitor ranking.
Project keywords transferred from a competitor data package are marked with a “Wettb.” badge so you always see the origin.
Transferring a keyword NEVER copies the competitor’s position — only your own GSC data flows into project keywords.
Backlinks Hub
A dedicated hub for your backlink profile — with health score, anchor distribution, referring domains and toxic check. Six tabs cover the full picture:
Health Score 0–100 combines toxic ratio, anchor diversity and referring-domain growth.
All backlinks with source URL, anchor, authority and first-seen date.
Anchor distribution — exact match, branded, generic, image.
List of all linking domains with authority and growth trend.
Toxic classification via spam score + authority threshold.
Backlink gap analysis vs pinned competitors — Quick (200 domains/competitor) or Deep (1,000). Spam-/off-market-TLD filter on by default.
Backlink Gap Analysis
Identifies domains that link to your pinned competitors but not to you — the editorial outreach pipeline. Pulls referring_domains per competitor, subtracts your own backlink set and ranks the gap by score:
- Score formula:
compCount × 50 + min(DR, 80) × 0,3 − spam/TLD-Malus— multi-competitor overlap is the strong editorial signal; DR is capped at 80 because DR > 80 is suspiciously high. - Quality filter (on by default): spam TLDs (.vip, .xyz, .top, .tk …), spam keywords in domain (casino, slot, aviator, backlinkseller …), off-market TLD (auto-detected from your domain), same-entity merge (ahrefs.jp gets folded into ahrefs.com).
- Show suspicious toggle: fifth filter pill — switches filtered domains back into the view, badged „Spam" or „Off-market".
- Cache: 14 days per project.
Position Tracker (Bulk-First)
Tracks your keyword rankings over time. Instead of querying each keyword individually, the tracker uses bulk ranked-keywords calls (up to 1,000 keywords per domain per call) — significantly faster and cheaper. Quick scan, Deep scan
- Share-of-SERP-Score — 0–100 weighted from Top-3 and Top-10 share.
- History chart — multi-line view with GSC overlay for sanity check.
- Competitor gap — KW where competitors rank in Top 20 and your domain does not.
- Quick-Wins block — KW on positions 4-15 with volume — the highest-leverage segment.
AI Visibility Monitor (Citation Tracker)
A watchlist for your visibility in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AIO and Claude. Per phrase: engine status (red/yellow/green dots), competitor mentions and answer excerpt — directly linked to a brief action.
Schema Helper in the Content Studio Editor
Live since 24 June 2026: the editor sidebar shows a Schema card that diagnoses the source URL, detects FAQ drift in your content and offers a one-click FAQPage generator — all without LLM calls.
- Source-URL diagnosis: green badge „1 block" / amber „>1 blocks" with conflict warning + chip-list of detected types (Article, FAQPage, etc.). Pulled live from the source page at first editor open and persisted.
- FAQ drift detector: four DOM patterns find Q&A pairs in your editor content — heading with ?, definition list (dl/dt/dd), details/summary, and a plain-inline cluster (≥3 pairs within ≤1500 chars). The last one catches Q&A hidden behind Alpine.js accordions that HTML sanitizers usually flatten.
- Drift warning: if ≥3 pairs are detected but no FAQPage is present in your schema → amber „FAQ content without FAQPage schema" hint with the action button below.
- FAQ schema button (0 Cr): green pill at the „FAQ schema available" item in the full check. One click builds a valid FAQPage JSON-LD via pure heuristics (FaqSchemaBuilder, no LLM) — question ≥15 chars, answer ≥50 chars filters out marketing pseudos. Result lands in
content_schema_json, full check turns green automatically. - Schema-replace warning: before any schema-generate click the browser shows a confirm dialog if a publish schema is already saved — explicit „existing schema will be replaced" — protects against accidental data loss when switching between FAQ and Article generation.
- Self-healing: drafts created before 24 June without schema data auto-refresh on the next editor open (1–2 s delay once, then persisted, 12 h crawler cache prevents re-hits).
schema_json holds the source-URL diagnosis (Phase 0b.1), content_schema_json holds your publish-ready JSON-LD (Path B). Generating a schema never overwrites the diagnostic view — both stay independently visible.Content Studio: Competitor Keywords in Brief
When creating a brief you can pull keywords directly from your pinned competitors into the target keywords — no detour via the Keyword Hub.
- 3 sources in the keyword modal: AI suggestions, project keywords, competitor data package
- Only pinned competitors are shown (focus on top 1–3 rivals)
- Persistent checkbox selection across modal tabs
- Editable search-keyword field — AI call only fires on explicit click
Voice Dictation in the Editor
Speak directly into the Content Studio editor via OpenAI Whisper — the transcribed text appears at your cursor position.
Switch / Detach GSC Property
For projects with a GSC property assigned, two actions are now available directly in the project view:
- Switch property — opens the property picker with all available properties from the connected Google account.
- Unlink — removes the property mapping. Imported GSC data stays.
Standard Briefs per Project
Every new project automatically gets two read-only standard briefs: “Argumentation essay” (17 elements, dialectic structure) and “Standard expert article”. You can clone them and edit the clone freely — the standards themselves stay untouched as a reference baseline.
Chat Agent now knows all trackers
The chat agent got 9 new tools — it can now read Position-Tracker, Citation-Tracker and Backlinks data directly, without you having to open the respective hub.
- Position Tracker: overview (Share-of-SERP, distribution, quick-wins), combined movers (Position-Tracker + GSC, with source tag „both" / „position_tracker" / „gsc"), competitor gap.
- Citation Tracker: rates per engine, 0%-phrases (top action triggers), top competitor domains in AI answers.
- Backlinks: health score + components, top gap domains (spam filter on by default, toggleable), anchor distribution with brand/exact/generic estimate.
get_ai_citations, get_citation_trend, get_citation_monitoring and get_top_movers were replaced by the new ones — historical chat threads remain readable.5-Bucket Sidebar
The sidebar follows your workflow: Analyze → GEO → Optimize → Content Studio → Monitor → Tech. GEO is its own top bucket and groups all GEO tools (Audit, Citability Check, Answer Simulation, Citation Tracker, GEO Battle). Inside each bucket everything is thematically sorted — all previous favourite tools are still there, just grouped more logically.
JSON data export for AI coding agents
In the project header (dashboard and analysis pages) you find the „JSON-Export" button. It opens a modal where you pick which data blocks to include — with record count and estimated file size per block. One click on „Download" costs 2 credits and delivers the file.
- 11 data blocks available: project meta, on-page audit + crawler, PageSpeed mobile + desktop, visibility index, GEO audit (pages + scores + schema + link suggestions), citation tracker (scans + results), backlinks (summary + top + anchors + ref-domains + gaps), competitors, keywords (GSC + opportunity scores), sitemap, prioritized actions.
- Typical size: 200 to 500 KB per export, depending on project scope and the blocks you pick.
- Format: structured JSON, schema-stable across exports. Directly parsable by Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Aider and other AI coding agents.
- Permission: Pro, Admin and Credits roles have the export enabled. Visitor and Basis see the button as a demo.
- Security: CSRF-protected POST, no cache delivery — you always get the latest data snapshot.
Use case: you build your website with an AI coding agent. Instead of translating SEO findings by hand, you hand the agent the full Rankmio export as context. The agent then opens pull requests per finding — FAQ schemas, meta descriptions, internal links, schema drift fixes.
