The chat agent is a Claude-based AI assistant with live access to all project data. It answers SEO/GEO questions in natural language, draws data from GSC, Keyword Hub, sitemap audit and citation tracker, and delivers concrete recommendations for action.

The Rankmio Chat Agent is the built-in AI assistant with direct access to all project data — GSC performance, keyword rankings, citation rate, backlinks, site audit findings, Content Studio briefs. Through function calling it can actively query data (for example, ”show me the 10 weakest pages of the last 4 weeks”), produce analyses, make optimisation suggestions and, on request, create action tasks or Content Studio briefs directly. It is the bridge between data and action — at the level of natural language rather than complex UI click paths.

What the chat agent can do

Data queries in natural language — ”Which keywords lost the most positions over the last 2 weeks?”
Diagnostic recommendations — ”Why is my citation rate in Perplexity falling?” with data-based hypotheses.
Quick-win suggestions — actions prioritised on the basis of the project data.
Creating action tasks — create tasks straight from the chat, which then feed into the action list.
Preparing Content Studio briefs — generate draft briefs on the basis of the Keyword Hub data.
Knowledge base lookups — questions about the tool itself and about SEO/GEO concepts (RAG across glossary, manual, FAQ).

The chat agent's tools

The chat agent currently has around 39 specialised tools — from get_tracked_keywords through get_page_performance, get_zero_click_keywords and get_citability_issues to create_action_task. For each user request the LLM (OpenAI function calling) selects the appropriate tools, calls them, combines the results and answers on the basis of the data. This produces recommendations with specific URLs and figures — not generic SEO tips.

RAG-based knowledge base

Through RAG (with pgvector as the vector database) the chat agent additionally has access to all Rankmio glossary entries, manual sections and FAQ answers. Asked ”What is GEO?” it answers from the glossary and includes a link. Asked ”How do I use the citation tracker?” it refers to the manual. It is therefore user support, data analyst and SEO expert in one.

Example: A user asks: ”Which 3 optimisations would raise my citation rate in ChatGPT the most?” The chat agent calls get_citability_issues, get_top_pages and get_competitor_citations, compares its own data with competitor values and answers: ”1. Schema.org Article markup is missing on 14 of your top pages — the biggest quick win. 2. Add FAQ schema to the 8 guide pages. 3. There is no Wikidata entity for your brand — the most important lever in the long term. Shall I create action tasks from this?” — If yes: the tasks go straight into the action list, with URLs and detailed findings.
