Rankmio GEO Audit

Also known as: GEO audit, AI SEO audit, Citability audit

The Rankmio GEO Audit is the GEO-specific counterpart to the classic site audit: every URL is tested against more than 33 citability checkpoints that are specifically relevant to the likelihood of an AI citation — H2 question-and-answer logic, the compactness of the answer in the opening sentences, Schema.org sameAs completeness, entity variety, source density, FAQ schema and the author byline. The result is a citability score (0–100) for each URL and for the domain as a whole, together with clear optimisation recommendations.

The five audit dimensions

Basic Check versus Full Check

There are two modes. The Basic Check is algorithmic (no AI call) and examines the H1, the H2 structure, paragraph length, the number of lists, source links and text length — an immediate score as a first orientation. The Full Check adds AI-based assessments: whether factual statements are sufficiently substantiated, whether entities are named consistently, and whether the main questions can be answered within the first two to three sentences of each section. As a bonus, the Full Check can generate Schema.org JSON-LD including Wikidata sameAs automatically on request.

Integration with the Content Studio

Findings from the GEO Audit appear in the Content Studio as live recommendations: the editor warns you directly when an H2 is not a question, when the answer comes too late, or when the Schema.org markup is incomplete. This creates a live optimisation loop — the audit score does not rise only after publication, but while you are editing.

Example from practice

Example: a domain with 80 advice articles had an average citability score of 41 (improvement needed). The GEO Audit diagnosis: 62 articles without Article schema, 48 without FAQ schema and 71 with an H2 phrased as a statement rather than a question. After rolling out the three most important fixes over six weeks, the average score rose to 76, while the citation rate across five AI engines rose from 14 % to 41 %. A classic example: the GEO Audit reveals the direct levers — and those who use them raise their AI visibility considerably.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Rankmio GEO Audit?
The GEO Audit analyses how citable a website is in LLM answers. It examines BLUF structure, FAQ coverage, structured data (Article, FAQPage, Organization), author signals, freshness, entity connections and live crawler access.
What distinguishes a GEO audit from a classic SEO audit?
A focus on LLM signals rather than Google rankings. The GEO Audit assesses whether an LLM can extract the answer in a clean chunk, whether authors are recognisable and whether AI crawlers are permitted. These questions often slip through the net in a classic SEO audit.
Which URLs are checked in the GEO Audit?
All project pages, prioritised by traffic potential. The home page and money pages come first, then blog content, then deeply nested pages. Sampling strategies are available for very large sites.
How long does a GEO Audit take?
10–60 minutes, depending on the size of the site. Small sites (under 100 pages): 10–15 minutes. Medium sites (500 pages): 30–45 minutes. Large sites: one to two hours. It runs in the background and you receive a notification once the results are ready.
